University of the Arts London, 2015

UAL is Europe’s largest specialist university for art and design. Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon, three of the six colleges that form UAL, have a unique sensibility. The university’s recruitment campaign was key in attracting the best students from around the world who will go on to shape the creative industry.

We were looking to capture and express the essence of attending art school. Spending considerable time on site, we gathered a whole range of found materials, images, textures and objects.

These materials became the ingredients for original collages, reflecting the spirit of each place. Using the CMYK print process, we made the most of overlays and happy accidents, adding to the richness of the materials. The campaign was rolled out across, the prospectus, ads, posters, digital banners, e-flyers and wayfinding.

Experimentation opens students up to new possibilities and ways of expressing themselves. The spirit and eclectic nature of the solution began this process before they even applied.
